What’s New for the 2023 Legacy?

July 22nd, 2022 by

We’ve made it over halfway through the 2022 year, and we are ready to be out with the old and in with the new when it comes to cars! We’re fast approaching the release of the 2023 models, and many of us are wondering what to expect from this upcoming year’s releases. As your Albany Subaru Legacy dealer, we here at Subaru of Troy feel it is up to us to find out what’s changing for the 2023 releases and let you all know! So what updates are coming for the 2023 Subaru Legacy, and how will this impact you, our valued customers? Let’s take a look.

What’s Staying the Same

When it comes to Subaru, models often begin with the ideal safety, performance, and comfort features standard. There’s a lot of great things inside the Legacy already that Subaru wanted to keep for the 2023s. For the 2023 year, you can expect the same great ride experience and comfort level of the interior seats. Subaru didn’t touch the majority of the car’s frame, meaning you still have the same cargo space and legroom as before. It is still expected to get great gas mileage and maintain its place as one of the top-level midsize sedans on the market.

What’s Changing?

Subaru did a great job up to 2023, putting out a high-quality model with the Legacy. However, like the rest of us, there’s always room for improvement. To further perfect the model, Subaru made some changes to the 2023 version, and we think they’re putting out their best Legacy yet!

Exterior Upgrades

When it comes right down to it, Subarus have almost always been sleek, stylish, and eye-catching. The 2023 Subaru Legacy has had a couple of minor makeovers to ensure they look as good as they perform. The 2023 Legacy has been given an upgraded front end, with a heavy focus on the grille and bumper. They’ve removed most of the bubbled and rounded corners of the Legacy and given it crisp, clean lines. This gives it a sporty edge and sharper look. Subaru has also updated the grille for the 2023 models. While the old grille was ok and certainly did its job well, we are glad they updated it. The 2023 Legacy grille is again a bit sharper than the previous models, giving it a new age feel. The grille is slightly larger and actually takes up almost the entire front end, connecting the headlights.

Since they changed the grille, Subaru also needed to update the headlights. Subaru has given the 2023 Legacy LED headlights and updated housings. Since the grille piece comes out and touches the headlights, Subaru gave their headlights a unique design that allows the grille piece to connect the headlights together. The fog lights also received updated housings that are incredibly similar to the design of the headlights. These changes have amped up the look of the 2023 Subaru Legacy, and we feel like they were changes made for the better.

Interior Changes

When it comes to how the Legacy is changing on the inside, the 2023s are getting updated control systems for the infotainment, making it more straightforward and accessible. Subaru also adjusted the way climate control is used within the car to make it easier to use. In certain Legacy models, the infotainment screen size is increased to 11.6 inches, giving a more interactive and responsive interface for drivers and passengers to utilize. The trims with this larger screen size will be Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible, which means no more wired connection for your phones!

While not all trims of the Subaru are getting additional upgrades, Subaru recognized a need to make the more expensive trim levels worth the additional cost. Drivers of the Touring XT Legacy can expect to have enhanced leather interiors, and both the Touring XT and Sport trims are equipped with fully heated steering wheels. That means no more trying to adjust how you drive by putting your hands where the steering wheel is warm. Also, the trims with navigation included got updated software, so drivers can now search locations without the exact address. This greatly increases the number of places the Legacy can help guide you to and helps those of us who are directionally challenged find our way better.

More Safety Features

Safety has always been a priority for Subaru, and these upcoming models are no different. They’ll still come with the Subaru package of safety features, including standard components such as lane keep assist, automated emergency braking, and lane-departure warnings. However, the standard package has received a bit of an overhaul that makes it run a little smoother than previously. It also has enhanced electric brake boosters to make the automatic braking more responsive and smoother.

Subaru has also added emergency steering and additional wide-angle camera views to some trim levels. These additional features increase the car’s ability to prevent accidents at speeds of 50 mph or less and give drivers a more comprehensive view of what’s going on around them. This also means that the sensitivity for cross-traffic alerts is increased, helping drivers respond more accurately and quickly to drivers around them. Drivers can also be expected to be notified if they are driving erratically by a distracted driver alert. All these features will certainly increase driver responsiveness and safety on the road.

Increased Power

Just like they stepped up their game on the Legacy’s exterior, interior, and safety features, the 2023s have been given a power boost! While this power boost is specific to the Sport level trims, it is worth mentioning. Previous Subaru Sport Trims have been a bit of a letdown when it comes to actual power. They still performed well, but not necessarily well enough to be considered truly “sporty .” With the 2023 model, that is set to change! The Sport trims will be equipped with a 260 horsepower, turbocharged, 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder engine. Whew! That’s a long description for an engine. The less technical description is that the car is fast! This engine is designed to pump out power and move cars down the street faster than you can say, “Subaru of Troy!” With more power comes a need for better, more responsive suspension. So the Sport trims are also getting upgraded suspensions to smooth out the ride and help drivers maintain control of their vehicles.

The 2023 Legacy Is Coming. Are You Ready?

The 2023 Legacy is equipped with better exterior, interior, safety, and power features that are sure to please any and all drivers. While Subaru has always been great with putting out high-quality vehicles, we feel like the 2023 Legacy is taking the cake when it comes to overall vehicle value. With all that is changing this upcoming year, it is good to know that both Subaru and Subaru of Troy are committed to keeping our vehicles high quality for our amazing customers.
