There are new and exciting things on the horizon at Subaru of Troy, your local Subaru dealer. While every Outback model has plenty to be thrilled about, the revised and renewed, 2023 Subaru Outback already has drivers, experts, and dealers stoked to learn more. The Subaru Outback has gained popularity for its good looks, dependability, and standard all-wheel drive, combined with respectable fuel economy and enough cargo room, so you can help your friends move if you should choose to do so. The Subaru Outback ticks off so many “must have” boxes that many drivers find that once they go Subie, it’s hard to choose any other SUV.

The 2023 Outback is a mid-generation refresh, which means it’s not completely all-new, but enough details have been reimagined or added to the standard lineup that this an Outback to make drivers of all types of vehicles sit up and pay attention. Whether you’re looking for a weekend adventure vehicle, something trustworthy to drive in town and country, or something safe and sizable without being too huge, the 2023 Outback is designed to make your driving dreams come true.

Power and Performance – Outback Style

One of the areas in which the Outback excels is drivability. While there are certainly SUVs that offer larger and more powerful engines, the Subaru Outback is known for driving and maneuvering with the same respectful manners as a sedan. Part of this is from standard Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, which allows close contact with the road and added torque when things get slippery or rough. Also on board are Active Torque Vectoring, Vehicle Dynamics Control, and X-MODE with Hill Descent Control. All of these engineering feats work together to provide drivers with a ride that defies the stereotypes that SUVs earned over the years.

The 2023 Subaru Outback will be equipped with one of two engines. The standard offering on many trims is the 2.5L naturally-aspirated flat-4 Boxer, which offers 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. When properly equipped, this engine has the ability to tow up to up to 2,700 pounds. Furthermore, it’s much gentler on your fuel budget than many other SUVs, providing an estimated 33 miles per gallon on the highways.

The second engine option is standard on the Wilderness and XT trims and offered as an available option on other trims. This Boxer is a 2.4L turbocharged version, which delivers 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. With its added pep, this engine can tow up to 3,500 pounds, the most offered by any Outback to date. Drivers who choose an Outback equipped with this engine can enjoy up to 30 miles per gallon on the highways, as well.

Safety Features for All in the 2023 Subaru Outback

Subaru’s EyeSight Driver Assist Technology comes standard on all Outbacks, but the 2023 model year will offer a few fascinating extras.

The standard EyeSight Driver Assist package includes Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering, which not only maintains speed but keeps you moving safely within your own lane. Subaru’s DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System is powered by infrared and facial recognition technology, which observes when drivers are sleepy or distracted, and provides both visual and audio alerts to help drivers maintain attention on the road. Upgrades to this system for the new model year will increase the system’s ability to recognize traffic and movement in the road ahead.

Other new features include Automatic Emergency Steering and an automated Pre-Collision Braking feature, which help drivers avoid potential accidents by adding braking power and steering if possible. Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert will include these features to assist drivers in staying safe when making potentially dangerous maneuvers.

Also exciting is the available Front View Monitor, which provides a 180-degree view from the front of the vehicle, eliminating blind spots and giving drivers a full perspective on the 11.6-inch display system. Those drivers who select the Touring trim can enjoy a Wide-Angle Mono Camera view, which allows the standard EyeSight cameras to capture more details when driving through intersections, providing alerts and emergency braking to avoid pedestrians and bikers.
